Navajo Inspired Natural Stone and Bone Beaded Necklace

This necklace brings together raw natural materials in an asymmetric, Southwest-inspired composition. One side glows with warm red heishi beads and Uruguayan red agate, while the other side is grounded in black volcanic stone, green African turquoise, and dark coconut shell. At the center, a hand-finished silver sun medallion is flanked by white cow bone beads carved with cross motifs and small turquoise accents. The result is a bold yet wearable piece that sits naturally at collarbone length.

Folklore & Symbolism

Across highland and desert craft traditions, natural stones and bone beads are chosen not only for their look but for the story they carry. Turquoise has long been associated with protection and safe journeying; red agate and coral-toned stones are linked to vitality and grounding; volcanic rock speaks of transformation and endurance; bone beads honor the material gifts of the animal and the hand of the maker. Worn together, they form a quiet talisman of resilience, balance, and connection to the earth.
