Potala Karma

Care in every detail
A Gau is a Tibetan portable shrine box, traditionally used to hold a small sacred image, prayer text or another personally meaningful object. It combines wearable craft with faith and intention. Whether a particular design has an opening compartment is stated in its description.
Construction and contents vary by piece. Some designs open, while others are sealed. Any included image, prayer text or other contents are listed in the product description; an exterior photograph alone does not indicate that contents are included.
Different pieces use silver, copper or other metals, as specified in their descriptions. Our artisans shape, work the ornament, polish and assemble the pieces, giving care to the surface and each small detail.
Nine Palaces and Bagua designs bring together calendrical, directional and traditional symbolism, often carrying wishes for peace, harmony and auspiciousness. Other figures, inscriptions and motifs have their own meanings, explained with the individual piece.
Yes. After each artwork is completed, it must receive a blessing from our Master Tenzin before leaving our workshop and making its way to you, carrying our wishes for peace and well-being.
Avoid impacts, immersion, perfume and cleaning chemicals. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth, store separately and check the cord and connections. Keep opening compartments and contents dry, and care for silver or copper according to the stated material.

Cases, ornaments and inner details from amulet traditions.
Gau Pendant
Tibetan gau traditions give small cases a place in personal devotion. This copper gau-form necklace carries that keepsake mood as a wish to keep a cherished intention near the heart.
Imagine folding a private wish into a letter small enough to hold in one hand. Burgundy cord, an orange-red accent and a green tassel give this imagined message its warm, travelling envelope.
The cord, loop fittings, bead and tassel are assembled around the compact copper pendant.
In Tibetan tradition, the gau form is associated with portable devotional keepsakes and protective wishes. This piece carries that traditional form as a personal ornament.
Keep dry and away from perfume, detergents, excessive heat and prolonged direct sunlight. Wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaning, impacts and pulling the cord or fittings. Store separately from harder jewellery.
