HAND · LETTER · CONTINUITY
Devotion takes form, one patient mark at a time.

Mani stones bring devotional words and images into stone. A familiar inscription is Om Mani Padme Hum, the six-syllable mantra associated with Avalokiteshvara, known in Tibetan as Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of compassion.
Carving and painting make the inscription visible through patient work with a material surface. The footage here invites attention to that making: the movement of a hand, the shape of a letter and the colour laid into a line.
A closer reading
Mani stones connect an inscription with the place where it can be encountered. The familiar six-syllable mantra is associated with Chenrezig; other inscriptions belong to different devotional contexts. A stone’s colour or decorative finish does not, by itself, tell you which text it carries.
Begin by identifying the inscription or named style. Then look at how letters sit on the stone: their spacing, depth, edges and, where present, paint. These are useful ways to appreciate the material work without guessing its age, geology or maker.
Mantra context: Tibetan Nuns Project. Service specifications below follow our current product listing.

The linked service commissions a hand-carved mani stone and arranges its placement in Lhasa on your behalf. The stone remains at the placement site. It is not shipped to you, and the listing does not include ongoing maintenance or a guaranteed permanent display period.
The current service offers 24 named mantra and finish options. Coloured styles are painted; natural styles are unpainted. Your dedication name and wish are requested for the service. These fields do not mean that any requested custom text will be carved: confirm an inscription request with us before ordering. Handworked stones vary in shape, surface and carving.
A stone type, fixed dimensions and an unrestricted custom-engraving specification have not been established for this chapter. Please ask us about those details for the particular option you are considering. The cultural film is separate from completion documentation for your order.
The mani stone service listing specifies completion within 15 calendar days after your name and wish are received, followed by onsite photographs and video personally emailed to the address used at checkout.
